Principal Contractor

QSC will carry out the role of Principal Contractor as per the CDM Regulations 2007and the Approved Code of Practice.

  • Implement access control procedures and manage the site access control.
  • Taking account of health and safety issues when preparing and presenting tenders or similar documents.
  • Developing the health and safety plan and coordinating the activities of all contractors to ensure they comply with health and safety legislation.
  • A duty to check on the provision of information and training for employees.
  • Reviewing competency and adequately resourced contractors to carry out work.
  • Ensuring the co-ordination and co-operation of contractors on site.
  • Obtaining from contractors the main findings of their Risk Assessments and checking their safety Method Statements/arrangements.
  • Ensuring that contractors have information about risks on site.
  • Monitoring health and safety performance.
  • Ensuring that all workers are properly informed and consulted.
  • Displaying the notification of the project to the HSE.
  • Passing information to the CDM Co-ordinator for the Health and Safety file.
